Thompson Rebounds With Close Win at Irondequoit Bay
Jim Thompson shook off his worst tournament in recent memory with a solid performance at Irondequoit Bay,
and held off hometown favorite Paul Pilkington by .09 lbs to win with a weight of 11.04 lbs. With his second win of the season,
he looks like a good bet to get back to the Classic this year. Pilkington put the pressure on by catching a 3+ pounder in
the last few minutes, but his bag went 10.95 lbs, just falling short. Dan Kaszubski finished 3rd with a decent limit that
went 10.05 lbs. Finishing fourth was Steve Dear, who narrowly missed out on the top three with a limit weighing 9.95 lbs.
The lunker of the day, to the dismay of both Don Roesch(watched it being caught) and Walt Babiarz(had a shot at it but
got snagged instead, and watched it being caught), went to Kenn "the biggest Loser" Kolo with a largemouth that tipped the
scales at 3.95 lbs.
After a week off the club takes off on its annual overnighter, this year at Oneida Lake, on August 7th and
8th. It looks like we'll have a good turnout again this year, so we look forward to seeing you all there.
